OK... so there are a number of ways to earn hats and things like that but u have to know your prices to be a great trader... but it really helps when you use this site called www.tf2spreadsheet.com its a free working site that tells u the the trading prices (dirty or clean).
So once you are good with the prices of things you should try and find a server... now this doesn't take that much time but u want a server with lots of people in it so the chances are highest for you to get a trade.
Once you have found a trader... say something like "hi" or "hey" and then get straight to the point. never ever say that its a strange,vintage,genuine because then the person your trading will think its valuable. OK after you have done that just say something like "are u selling that (item,hat,whatever)" and then he should respond like "oh this..." and then you say "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE FOR IT" you always with out a doubt let them decide and most of the time they would like stranges so its pretty important to have a nice stash of stranges (try and get cheat one's of TF2WH). Then they might go oh I'll have one of those stranges and then you trade and BAM you have a great trade towards you...XD
